Jim Marshall has worked most of his career in the music business doing magazine and editorial work, publicity, documentary photography, album and CD covers. He was one of the chief photographers at the Monterey Pop Festival, the original, Woodstock, and the only photographer granted access to the Beatles’ last concert. Jim was the only person ever to squeeze Janis Joplin and Grace Slick into a single frame. He has more than 500 CD and album covers to his credit. His work has been published worldwide and is included in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian.
Gallery 291 is extremely pleased to host the premier exhibition of Marshall’s work printed in platinum/palladium. Marshall in Platinum includes over 70 large prints spanning Jim’s career, including a series of Appalachian images never before exhibited.
